My data and the export
Zyx keeps its data on the company’s own server. Two ways take it out, for two different people.
For each person: Settings, My data
Section titled “For each person: Settings, My data”A private chat belongs to its person (Readers and rights). In Settings, then My data (German: Meine Daten) each person downloads their own private chats: one zip of Markdown files, one file per chat.
- You get only your own private chats.
- Another person’s private chat cannot be downloaded, not even by the owner. It answers “not found”.
For the company: zyx export
Section titled “For the company: zyx export”At the end of a contract the company keeps its data. On the server, run:
zyx exportzyx export --to /path/to/a/new/folderIt writes a new folder, by default Zyx export <date> inside the company folder:
| In the folder | What it is |
|---|---|
chats/ |
every shared chat as a Markdown file, sorted into folders |
cards.md |
every approval card: when, which tool, how it was decided, and by whom |
database/ |
every table as a JSON file, the audit log included |
README.md |
what is in the export and what is not |
The documents, skills, agents and memory in the company folder are plain files already. They stay where they are.
How it works:
- It only reads. The server can keep running, and the files agree with each other because they come from one snapshot.
- A private chat is not in it, in the readable files or in the tables. The README says how many chats were left out. Each person takes theirs with My data.
- A folder that already holds files is refused. Pick a new one.
The export is not a backup. For backups, see Backups.
